EEMG ATTENDS BEUC CONFERENCE CLEAN ENERGY FOR ALL EUROPEANS? WHAT'S HOT AND WHAT'S NOT FOR CONSUMERS?

EEMG representative attended ‘Clean Energy for all Europeans? What’s hot and what’s not for consumers’ held in Brussels last 9th March 2017.

The European Commission released law proposals in November 2016 to make the EU’s energy market fit for an energy transition to more sustainable energy sources and to empower consumers. BEUC organised a debate on 9 March 2017 to take stock of these proposals and discuss what needs to happen to make these future laws good for consumers. EEMG representative attended this event.

The conference was divided in two panels : 1) fixing daily consumer headaches (main topics discussed: consumers problems such as switching and bundled offers) and 2) Smart energy services (main issues: active consumers and data protection).

Monique Goyens, BEUC Director General, closed the conference saying that the Clean Energy package is a huge opportunity to deliver to consumers. She called for an inclusive energy policy that addresses consumers’ basic problems like clear bills and puts energy efficiency first.
